The beautiful thing about weightlifting for me is that is generally adheres to the principles that govern both sport and, at times, life. If I want to improve any facet of my lifting, I must do the following: recognise exactly what I want to accomplish; establish where I am in regards to that skill; learn it; repeat the skill so many times that it becomes automatic, unconscious and therefore fluid. It must be the automatic skill that my body falls back on in times of stress and fatigue.
Now, like so many other things, this is easier said than done. The process of learning fascinates me and weightlifting is one of the avenues that I learn about myself as I really am. Do I have the testicular fortitude I think I have? Can I learn new skills as fluently as I crave? Weightlifting is taking me on a journey and this is what this blog is about.
